Peanut Butter Graham S’mores Krispie Treats

In the last seven years, the original Graham S’mores Krispie Bars on this site have been my most popular recipe. Hundreds of thousands of pins. They are the perfect treat. My unabashed love and obsession with Golden Grahams as a kid is alive and well with these, and since they don’t require a fire to be made, they are the epitome of a summer treat, when three quarters of our state is under a burn ban. Win-Win? YES. So add some peanut butter to these Peanut Butter Graham S’mores Krispie Treats and devour!

And just for kicks, I decided to revamp my most popular recipe all because of a co-worker who said he made his favorite rice krispie treats with peanut butter. Like, how did that wondrous idea never dawn on me? So I made these again, adding in a double dose of peanut butter.

You’re welcome.

I grew up eating Golden Grahams straight out of the box. It’s a sad, but true, tale of my adolescence. We didn’t get them often, and I remember a box of them getting shipped to me in a care package at summer camp. They were my kryptonite. And that love lives on today.

So when we can’t get a fire going, burn bans and all, I am turning to these utterly easy and delicious treats for a quick peanut butter graham s’mores krispie treat dessert. Making these peanut butter graham s’mores krispie treats are just the ticket for the summer holiday, and the 4th of July! Wait, it’s the 4th of July? How’d that happen?!

And what could possibly be wrong with the holy grail of peanut butter and chocolate? Nothing. That’s what.

Peanut Butter S'mores Krispie Treats

Ingredients:

  • 1 bag (10 oz) Mini Marshmallows
  • 6 Tbsp Butter
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter
  • 2/3 cup Semi-Sweet Chocolate chips + more for topping
  • 1/2 cup Peanut Butter Chips + more for topping
  • 1 box (12 0z) Golden Grahams Cereal
  • 1/2 teaspoon Vanilla
  • Non-Stick Cooking Spray

Directions:

In a 9×9 inch baking pan, spray with non-stick cooking spray. Set aside.

In a large non-stick pot over medium heat, melt butter. Add in marshmallows and stir together with butter until marshmallows have melted and become creamy. Stir in vanilla extract and peanut butter, until smooth.

Fold in grahams cereal until all marshmallows and grahams are evenly mixed together. When the mix becomes very sticky (and has cooled slightly – it will be harder to stir) mix in the  chocolate chips and peanut butter chips. Spread treats into sprayed baking pan. Press into pan and sprinkle remaining  chocolate chips and peanut butter chips on top of the treats, lightly press into top of treats to make sure they stick. Place into fridge for 10-15 minutes to cool.

Slice into bars and serve. Devour.

(Pro Tip – spray your hands and spatula with non-stick spray to make sure the marshmallow doesn’t stick to your hands)
