We are on the downhill slide right into summer, warm weather, baseball games, outdoor porch sitting, grilling, and frozen treats! And I am so here for it.
The fresh fruits of the season are going to start coming in hot, and pairing them with Health-Ade’s newest, summer inspired cherry berry flavor is going to be amazing. Pairing some porch sitting with a small bowl of this month’s Health-Ade Cherry Berry Sorbet is going to be the stuff summer dreams are made of.
This brand new, exclusive to Whole Foods, flavor is gorgeous in color, bright in flavor, and totally summer swoon worthy. A mix of cherries, fresh berries, and hibiscus, this bright and bubbly kombucha is going to be a staple in your summer sipping regime.
For the recipe I added even more berries to the mix, with blackberries, raspberries, and strawberries, along with sweet dark cherries to create a berry base for this sorbet. I cooked it all together and let it cool overnight. Then, right before putting it in my ice cream maker, I added in the kombucha, so that it would retain its raw properties and keep the cultures and probiotics alive and well. It’s a perfect palate cleanser after your summer grilling, and I hope that you will seek out this new, exclusive flavor at your nearest Whole Foods all summer long!

Being alone with Emmett on the weekends means he’s always nearby, and with him becoming a curious boy, he needs to be involved in, and touch, everything! I couldn’t resist snapping a few extra photos of this little guy “helping”. And then rushing before he touched anything and stained our newly cleaned carpets. HA!
He was so eager and pleased with himself, I couldn’t help but beam with pride. Maybe we have a budding foodie in our midst!

Health-Ade Cherry Berry Sorbet
- 2 pounds fresh or frozen fruit – 1-pound dark sweet cherries, 1-pound mixed berries
- ¾ cup Sugar
- ¼ cup Corn Syrup*
- 1 cup Health Ade Cherry Berry Kombucha
- 2 Tbsp Lemon Juice
Special Instructions –
- If using fresh fruit, wash and dry the fruit, cutting away any stems and pits.
- An ice cream maker is required for this recipe – freeze the base bowl at least 24 hours in advance.
- If using frozen fruit, use straight out of the bag.
In a large sauce pan, bring the fruit, sugar, and corn syrup to a boil, stirring frequently until the fruit has broken down and is completely soft, the sugar is melted, and the corn syrup is incorporated. About 10 minutes.
Remove the fruit mixture from the stove. Place the mixture into a blender or food processor, and liquify the fruit completely. Pour the fruit base through a fine mesh strainer into a large bowl, so that any seeds and skins of the fruit that remain are removed. Cover the bowl with the fruit mixture and allow the mixture to chill overnight.
Prior to making the sorbet, remove the fruit base from the fridge, and pour in 1 cup of Health-Ade Cherry Berry kombucha, and stir in until it is completely incorporated.
To make the sorbet, place the frozen ice cream maker base into the ice cream maker and prepare the ice cream per the manufacturer’s instructions. It will take about 18-22 minutes of churning. Spoon the completed sorbet into a loaf pan, or other storage container, seal, and freeze to completely solidify. Freeze for at least 4 hours. Serve with garnish of fresh cherries and berries, if desired.
*Note – Corn syrup is used in this recipe to create a smoother sorbet, reducing the formation of hard ice crystals. If you do not wish to use corn syrup, you can remove it, and increase the sugar to 1 cup, instead of ¾ cup.
