Stir something special into your morning cup of coffee with these sweet chocolate fudge and caramel melting coffee spoons!

Chocolate Fudge and Salted Caramel Chocolate Coffee Melting Spoons

I dropped my jaw when I saw these at my work’s coffee shop. It was 4 of them for nearly $20. Don’t get me wrong they were made of good chocolate, but also I knew I could do better! These are a sweet treat that just amps up your morning cuppa, and not gonna lie, if you’re not a coffee fan, just eat the chocolate right off the spoon.

What made mine better than the coffee shop’s is that I decided to take it one step further – I added a gooey center to the spoons! Why not? I opted for filling these spoons with two of my favorite, and uber decadent, dessert sauces – coffee salted caramel, and my nutella hot fudge!

This recipe also got me to try something I hadn’t before – tempering chocolate. Have you ever tried to melt chocolate, and noticed that it won’t just go back to it’s original hardened state? Well, when you temper it, it does just that! Chocolate has a kind of memory, and using the right chocolate, and a quick trick, you can make it do just what you need it to.

I made these just for fun, but you can also make them for quick gifts, baby showers, events, and more. They are perfect for any time of year, and their versatility in flavor combinations makes them so much more fun! Peppermint mocha? Eggnog toffee? Coconut caramel? You guys, the chocolate spoon is your proverbial oyster!

I hope your mornings start a little sweeter!! Grab the recipe and how-to below and catch my video on YouTuber and Facebook!

Description

Stir something special into your morning cup of coffee with these sweet chocolate fudge and caramel melting coffee spoons!

Ingredients

Scale
  • 1 1/2 cups Good Quality Melting Chocolate, not chocolate chips, finely chop 1/2 cup of this
  • 1/3 cup Nutella Hot Fudge (or prepared hot fudge of any kind)
  • 1/3 cup Coffee Salted Caramel (or Salted Caramel of any kind)
  • Chocolate Jimmies, or Sprinkles
  • Fine flaked sea salt
  • 12 plastic spoons
  • Wrapping

Instructions

  1. Lay spoons out on a baking sheet. Place a towel under the ends of the handles so that the spoons lay evenly and stable.
  2. Fill the spoons 2/3 of the way with the caramel sauce, or hot fudge. Freeze the spoons for at least 20 minutes.
  3. While the spoons are freezing, prepare the chocolate. Melt 1 cup of chocolate in the microwave, or in a double boiler, until the chocolate pieces are nearly melted but not all the way.
  4. Remove them from the heat, and stir them to completely melt the chocolate. Add in remaining 1/2 cup of finely chopped chocolate pieces to the melted chocolate and stir to combine it until it is fully melted. This “seed” chocolate will remind the melted chocolate what state it used to be in.
  5. Remove the frozen spoons from the freezer, and dip them gingerly into the chocolate, completely covering the fudge or caramel sauce. The frozen sauce will melt quickly so you need to cover it or it will run off the spoon!
  6. Place the spoons back onto the baking sheet to set. Sprinkle them immediately with chocolate jimmies/sprinkles, or flaked sea salt for decoration!
  7. Place back in the freezer if needed to solidify chocolate on a hot day. Store them in individually wrapped packages and decorate.
  8. To Use: stir your hot coffee with the spoons for an added treat until the chocolate has completely dissolved.
