Emmett Keno - Country Cleaver

He’s here!! It’s been a week really, but between staring into his little steel blue eyes, the dimple on his right cheek when he smiles, and his little baby coos, we have been completely beside ourselves and let this announcement slide a few extra days. The sleep deprivation hasn’t helped either.

But he is finally here.

Emmett James was born on October 1st, after 16 and a half hours of active labor. He is immensely adored, cherished and the apple of our eye. We have slid into parenthood with little extra bumps along the way in the healing process for me, but it has been a transition Ben and I have taken on with the greatest of joys.

There will be time for his full birth story when I can bring myself to put him down for long enough to write it, but for now, I hope you like the photos of our newest little addition. Thank you for following along as we chronicled his arrival over the months. From our announcements, to the semi-weekly baby size updates with some of my favorite and most adored recipes.

Our baby category will inevitably grow as we transition into telling our new story, with more family focused recipes, mom focused recipes, and stories of our little guy and how we are tackling this new life as parents. But don’t dispair, the oven will stay on, and the cast iron hot. There is so much to share, and we hope that you continue to stay involved in our lives, as we grow into a family of four (Yes, the dog counts 😉 ).

If you are new and haven’t seen our chronicle of baby centric stuff – catch up!!

We started with the announcement of our little one back in the spring. The Orange Blossom and Almond Cake will always hold a special place in my heart for this very reason.

And we followed it up with a “How Big is Baby” Baking series to see how much he grew by week! There was sweets and savory recipes, including these poached pearsand the Crepe Suzette at week 20. For the savories we went to grilled romaine salads with blackberries and crispy prosciutto, and all butter croissants for the carb lover in me.

You have followed it all, and we are so grateful. Keep us in your thoughts, and send prayers for restful nights sleep for all of us HA! I will be back very soon with more recipes, videos, and stories to tell. Until then, I have a cutie to cuddle.
