When the mood strikes for cookies, you don’t always want to bust out the mixer! Learn how to freeze cookie dough so you just have to place them on the sheet and bake!

Contrary to popular belief, I don’t have all the time in the world to make cookies. And I know you don’t either. The other thing I know is that you don’t like doing dishes or busting out the mixer when you only want or need three cookies to satisfy your insatiable craving for cookies. Or because your husband has been begging you to make him a tasty treat and won’t give up.
Enter this – the frozen cookie dough. I’m all for the log of dough from time to time, but there is just something about your favorite homemade blue ribbon-made-them-since-you-were-six-years-old chocolate chip cookie dough that can’t be beat. So make it and freeze it with these handy tips for when that mood strikes. Or when your husband begs for cookies.
Consistency is key here, so use a cookie scoop – or if you’re a sinner like me – a cupcake scoop to make large cookie balls of uniform size.
Line them up on a parchment lined baking sheet, evenly spaced apart.
You can used waxed paper or a silicone mat if you prefer. I just had parchment paper handy.
Next, place them in your freezer for at least two hours to freeze solid. Lay them on an even surface so they don’t start rolling around.
Mine were precariously perched on a couple of loaves of bread and a frozen pizza.
Once that is done, requisition yourself a freezer type plastic bag, and a permanent market.
Write down the name of the recipe, and the baking temperature, and time on the bag.
Add in the frozen cookie dough balls in a single layer.
Lastly, If you can, get all the air you can out of the bag. Use a straw if you can, or pucker up buttercup and suck the air out of the bag and seal it. The removal of the air will prevent freezer burn.
And that’s it! Back in the freezer they go until you’re ready for the craving to strike again!
