Photo Friday :: The Palouse Edition
I tell you all the time how the Palouse is home, it’s our zen place, our Mecca. It’s where Ben grew up, played in the dirt, and worked with his family in the fields. It’s the smell of the dust, the wind and the rare post-rain cleanliness. The Palouse is the place we yearn to raise a family, grow old and make our dreams a reality. Explaining this might sound simplistic, and even cliche – but unless you have seen it, spent a baby blue, pink and brilliant orange sunset out amongst the hills reflecting light into the wheat – you might never understand. Â And that’s okay. A town like that isn’t for everyone, an hour from town, no city lights, no stop lights for miles, and a dwindling life style that seems like a relic of a bygone era. It is so intertwined with who Ben is, it makes my heart swell and makes my love for him grown stronger.
A few weeks ago we visited home and spent our afternoons driving to our favorite spots, visiting family and soaking in every moment we could before returning to Seattle. Here are a few of my favorite snaps that try to convey the depths of my love for this region, this family and this land.
We drove through there on Wednesday and I thought of you. You’re right – it’s beautiful.
STUNNING. You know how I feel about the Palouse.
That photo of Ben’s grandpa just melted my heart.
Megan, what beautiful snapshots of a place, a feeling, and a way of life! Loved seeing this side of you and Ben. Thanks for sharing!!
Totally beautiful; I can understand why you love it there.
GORGEOUS pictures Megan!! I can totally understand why the land would pull at your heartstrings!!
Such lovely pictures!! wowza!
Beautiful photos! I love your writing, too.
Love your photos of the Palouse. It looks exactly like the Hiline! (my new home) There is nothing more beautiful and peaceful than fields of wheat, barley, etc. I feel the exact same way about being in your husbands homeland. My heart swells with so much love. Gotta love those farm boys! 😉
Oh wow, gorgeous photos 🙂

We lived in Moscow from 1971-1984. It was a great place to raise children! Worked for the Palouse School District from 1974-1978, and in Whitman County from 1980-1984. Beautiful country, wonderful people.
It’s so wonderful to know people who have a deep connection to our beloved Palouse! And what a mark you made on it and the kids that grew up there!! Thank you so much for stopping by!
Our family recently had a son, and we decided to buy a camera to capture all the wonderful moments of its growth, took a long time to choose a camera, found an informative article (https://www.photographytalk.com/panasonic-lumix-g9-review) and chose Panasonic Lumix G9, now it remains to take photos and makes beautiful albums. What do you think about this camera?
