On days like today where we are out and about, barbecuing, camping and celebrating the long weekend, we can easily forget the sacrifice of others that is really the cornerstone of today.
But momentarily, I wanted to extend a very big thank you to all who served, are serving, those who made the ultimate sacrifice, and who’s memories will live on forever.
Thank you.
(Below are some of my favorite photos taken last year while on vacation in DC, while at Arlington National Cemetery and the National War Nurses Memorial)
At the Tomb of the Unknown Solider.

This was the most emotionally taxing photograph I’ve ever taken.

At the War Nurses Memorial in the rain.

Abraham Lincoln’s view of the Washington Memorial.

A yellow rose left at Vietnam Memorial.
Now for the giveaway!
(*Note* I couldn’t find my photo of the carrier, but I’m giving away a RED one, not this blue one)
Since summer is just around the corner (it’s still not all sunshine and heat here in Seattle – but it is Seattle, who am I kidding?), hopefully this insulated carrier will go to a good home where he/she will be well used and loved.
Thank you all for the overwhelming response. This was a really fun giveaway.
With the help of Random.org, the winner is…
Marla Hacklander!
Thanks again, everyone!
Marla, please contact me at [email protected] to collect your prize.
*Reminder – the prize from World Market was purchased by me, because I’m completely in-love with and obsessed with the store and their products. And if the winner does not contact me within 3 days, I’ll randomly pick another winner*
